Introduction to The Big Read. Big Read displays, promos for upcoming events. Clothing and displays of items, displays about F. Scott Fitzgerald, One man show "Meeting F. Scott Fitzgerald" with Larry Vanderveen then Presentation of L.A. Hosts, Leo's Round Table discussion. Acrobats performing great feats of wonder!

Actor and Writer Larry Vanderveen assumes the role of legendary novelist F. Scott Fitzgerald performing a one-man-show depicting the life and times of the man who penned such classic American novels. 1 hour and 1/2 performance with Q&A after. . An introduction of the Big Read and SAP events will presented.

People of all ages will be taking the stage as they model clothing of the 1920's. Information regarding The Big Read will be provided and other SAP Events. Music of the time period will be performed and descriptions of the clothing shown will be given to provide historical background for "The Great Gatsby."

Gatsby and Cars Under the Stars

6:30 p.m to 10:00 p.m

Jay Leno and members of the California Classic Car Club will show their 1920's vintage cars. Music of the time will be performed by the Hollywood Rhythm Kings while booths with information on The Big Read will be placed in a number of locations. Some with area book clubs that have read the book hold informal discussions about the book with open Q&A's. Reenactment performers and magicians will interact with the crowd. Introduction to The Big Read. Big Read displays, promos for upcoming events. Clothing and displays of items from the 1920's, displays featuring F. Scott Fitzgerald. All activities will culminate with a brief on-stage presentation with Dick Van Dyke sharing with the audience how important reading is and how important The Big Read is to everyone. Then, members of Shakespeare At Play, Jay Leno, and Dick Van Dyke will read excerpts from the "The Great Gatsby"
